While for ICU, 8 additional beds have been previously established (repurposed) making the bed capacity rise to 13 pieces. Out of this total, 9 beds are dedicated to treating COVID-19 cases, he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said, other departments of HSM among them are the Department of Emergency & Trauma, Pathology & Medical Transfusion Department, Pediatric Department, Forensic Department and Hemodialysis Units are also planning their own preparedness plans to treat COVID-19 cases that may increase ..

′′ Through the discussion held with the HSM and JKN Kedah parties, several recommendations for improvements have been given including the decrease of daily patient’s entry rate value as a warning sign that certain proactive actions are taken.

′′ This includes the need to add the number of non-ICU and ICU beds for COVID-19 cases, mobilization of health officers and assets from other districts or states, evacuating patients through air transportation to other referral hospitals and the establishment of PKRC operated by private parties,” He said.

Dr Noor Hisham reminded all future visitors to Langkawi Island under domestic travel bubble project to always practice the new norm and stay compliant with SOP.

′′ As we try to balance between lives and survival and economy, let’s all make sure there is no increase in COVID-19 virus infection on the island of this holiday. Y ‘ all cooperation is much needed,” he said.
